Student loan debt is a coming crisis for many students. There has to be a different way then to get out of college heavily in debt. Today we continue with baby step 5. Saving for your kids college. The baby steps are in order and you shouldn’t skip one to get to another. A house divide against itself cannot stand. Therefore, trying to save and payoff debt is a counter intuitive. Concentrate on paying off the debt then while your are debt free you can save, save, save.
Back to college savings. I have two daughters. As soon as they got their social security number I opened up an ESA. ESA stands for educational saving account. You can also use a 529 plan.
