People love a good conspiracy. In fact no crisis we face escapes having a good conspiracy behind it. What saddens me is that too many Christians get caught up on this trajectory. Personally, I think it makes them look silly and fanatical, sadly reducing their credibility.
For too many Christians there is this sense that there is a “deep state” in government, and that the Jesuits are behind it all.
As a minister I understand the prophetic implications of Revelation 13. I am aware that there will be a union of church and State. The difference between the conspiracies and that prophecy is that the latter is grounded in Scripture.
The latest conspiracy making the rounds is that this virus has somehow been planted by the government to control the masses. Biblically speaking the government has the power given to them by God to do this by putting people in quarantine. You can read it here.
As Christians we have to know that God is in control. He knows the end from the beginning and nothing can catch him by surprise. Read the back of the Bible—we win! God will be victorious. Therefore, needless conspiracies are not helpful. They destroy your witness. How about we focus on the Bible and lifting up people to a personal relationship with Christ.
Furthermore, there is an illogical madness to it all. If there was a “deep state,” aka a shadow government, and you discovered it, don’t you think they would kill you? I mean if you believe they are that vicious to unleash a virus on the world it would be easy to get rid of little old you, no?
Even if you knew who they were, what are you going to do about it? They are still going to run your life. Also the majority of people won’t believe you, and you have nothing to point them too. What’s your source? Do you have a primary source that the government unleashed this virus? Or did you hear that from a crazy relative or some two-bit website spread by social media? Who told you that there is a small elite running the world? How does that change your life? True knowledge is to know Christ and live by His Word, not conspiracies. I am tired of being embarrassed by fellow believers.
Let God be God and you be a faithful witness, and leave the conspiracies behind. They don’t help the cause of Christ. They don’t help you. In fact if you keep believing every conspiracy you might just be deceived in the end.
In the end the only thing that matters is turning your eyes upon Jesus. He has the wonderful words of truth.
