Your kids need you!

“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.(Proverbs 22:6)

This is a very familiar verse to christians. Many christians know this verse by memory. It basically highlights that what we teach children about God in their early years will remain with them throughout their lifetime. As is often the case the sooner we learn something in life the more ingrained it becomes. For those who want our children to walk in a relationship with Jesus teaching them early is vital. However there is a question I want to ask you about this verse.

How many of you can tell me what proverbs 22:7 says by memory? I’ll give you a few seconds to try to remember. I didn’t know it either while learning about finances. Here is the verse right after telling that we should teach kids vital lessons early on in their lives.

“The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender’s slave.” (Proverbs 22:6)

Could it be that God wants us to teach our kids early on the lessons found in this verse? How different would your life be if you know the financial principles we are learning together on this blog? Imagine knowing from your youth to stay and remain debt free. To save for college so you wouldn’t come out with massive debt. To invest properly so that your retirement becomes all you dreamed it to be.

It is true that the rich rule over the poor and those of us in debt are slaves to the lender. Let’s not play that game anymore. Begin taking action. Get your road map here.

Nevertheless, teaching our kids and ourselves is vital and so I am recommending to you this book. It is called Smart Money, Smart Kids. It is my favorite Dave Ramsey book. It teaches you how to relate to your kids and money. I recommend this book even for those without kids because it teaches you how to relate to others and money as well.

My girls will learn the principles I teach from the beginning. I want them to be Godly girls who know how to manage their inheritance for Gods glory and honor. I don’t want them to be slaves or have anyone rule over them!

If you have questions don’t hesitate to ask here. Take charge of your money!
